Established in 1993, ZIP Technologies is a manufacturer of brewing equipment and a provider of complete, turnkey brewing solutions for the brewpub, craft brewery and microbrewery industries. We are your partner in every step of your brewery project, even through commissioning and beyond.

Once you approve the layout, design and 3D renderings, ZIP provides you with technical plans for site preparation: these include water connection plans, electricity connection plans and canalization plans. Requirements for floor and wall covering, temperature control and water supply are also provided. Our aim is to help you prepare the best home for your future brewing equipment.

Site building 
and preparation

This phase gives you time for construction and building preparation as per the plans provided by our team. Prior to installation, we send an engineer to check in on the status of the site and make sure everything is set for the installation of brewing equipment to begin.

Manufacturing

The entire manufacturing of your brewpub will take place in our headquarters in Hungary. The manufacturing of a full brewery typically takes approximately three calendar months.

Shipping

Equipment is typically shipped on trucks for local deliveries in Europe, or in containers for cross continental shipments. Whatever the method of shipment, we are experts in packing your precious equipment for the long trip across treacherous roads and seas. At your request, we will be happy to handle the shipping and logistics of getting the equipment to your brewery.

Installation

Once the brewery site is ready, a team of 7-10 specialists (including engineers, welding and fitting specialists, electricians, automation programmers and brewmasters) will arrive to install and commission your brewing equipment. A typical installation is completed in two calendar weeks.

Brewing launch

After the equipment is fully installed and piping and connecting work is completed, a water trial brew is conducted. This allows us to make any final tweaks to prior to brewing. Following a successful water trial, one of our brewmasters will stay with you to train in your brewing staff, brew the first batch, and ensure that the brewing staff is fully comfortable with working on the new equipment.

After sale service and support

All of our brewing equipment comes with a one year warrantee. Following this period, we are happy to offer you an extended warrantee, which includes yearly maintenance check-ups, telephone and online support and full technical support.

Differing from one other in accessorization, level of automation and design, all of our equipment is manufactured in Hungary only from the finest European materials and spare parts. Regardless of ZIP Standard or ZIP Premium, quality is always a constant.

ZIP STANDARD


Quality equipment that consists of all necessary elements for brewing authentic beer, including:

Cylindrical malt mill
Three vessel brewhouse:
          - mash tun  / brewkettle with blade mixer

The operation of this equipment requires a very experienced and precise brewing staff, as the entire brewing process is very dependent on manual control. The archiving of technological data and parameters is only possible manually.

ZIP STANDARD systems are available in 250 liters/brew, 500 liters/brew and 1000 liters/brew.

ZIP CLASSIC


ZIP CLASSIC models elaborate on the ZIP STANDARD models and also include features designed to ease usability and provide savings in energy consumption. For example, Brewhouse vessels feature insulated top covers reducing energy consumption during brewing, the load on ventilation equipment, and improving overall worker safety. 

Other features of the ZIP CLASSIC system:

Mash tun/brewkettle and the lauter tun include a frequency changer
Brewhouse features hop infusing vessel 
Lauter tun features a wedge-shaped lautering blade
Brewhouse platform features  a stainless steel sink
Steam heated, insulated hot liquor tank increases efficiency
Steam plate heat exchanger separates the condensed hot water from the wort and gathers it in the warm water tank reduces odor and the environmental heat load
Wort ventilation system and yeast dosing system
Manual keg filling system 
Semi-hermetic chilling system. Chilling capacity to accommodate 3 brews daily
Electric steam generator 

The operation of this equipment requires an experienced but smaller brewing staff, as the brewing time and energy use is reduced because of overall equipment accessorization.

Contains all the elements listed in ZIP STANDARD and ZIP CLASSIC, as well as all the additional equipment and accessories required for optimal equipment operation.
ZIP PREMIUM offers a very efficient system with full automatic control of the brewing process and automatic archiving of all technological processes and data. 

The perks of a ZIP PREMIUM system include:

Pre-masher with pumps and mixing valves, aids in optimal malt-water mixing for wet malt milling
Mash tun/ Brewkettle and Lauter tun both include a polished and insulated cover
Brewing automation with a touch screen monitor, a computer, and complete pneumatic valve control
Decorative thermometer on the Mash tun/ Brewkettle and the Lauter tun
Hot liquor tank and the whirlpool feature a polished covers
Oil-free air compressor, air filter, air drier for  wort ventilation

Unique brewhouse designs: many designs available to choose from including polished copper, modern stainless steel with decorative stripes or stainless steel copper mix. Brewhouses can also be custom designed to tailor to your individual needs. 
Kieselguhr filter for beer filtration
3 vessel mobile automatic CIP, with conductibility meter for connecting to the fermentation tank piping to automatically wash tanks
Bar tapping system- beer flows directly from the Serving tanks to the bar, with completely automated system tracking and archiving all data

The operation of this equipment requires only basic computer knowledge and brewing knowledge. System automation makes the work of the brewmaster much simpler and allows more time for recipe development and brewery operation improvement. All brewing process and flow through data is archived electronically.

A new generation of breweries that break out of the global conglomerate system of brewing watered down lagers, craft breweries are pioneers in experimenting with new and unique beer styles. Fueled by trends favoring local and natural products, craft breweries are enjoying a surge of growth all around the world.

Craft breweries are usually equipped with equipment that allows for the production of over 1.000 liters of beer per shift, but every craft brewery is different - our engineers will design the right brewery that’s fit for your business goals. Unlike brewpubs, craft breweries are located in an industrial brewery setting - in other words customers cannot see beer being brewed and they cannot consume it on premise.

Instead a minibrewery transports beer to its point-of-sale in glass bottles, KEGs or PET bottles. This business model allows for the flexibility of selecting one or many points and types of sale, thus the development of a healthy distribution network is critical for success. Of course, many breweries are also fusing this concept with the brewpub concept- creating taprooms where guests can enjoy beer straight from the point of production.

The development of brewing equipment for such projects typically begins with a comprehensive consultation during which an understanding of the exact needs of the investor are obtained, including desired beer output, amount of desired beer types, and sales and distribution methods. Based on this, a brewery concept grounded on the following is developed:

  • Malt preparation, including all the necessary equipment for preliminary cleaning of malt, as well as equipment for grinding and pre-mashing.
  • Brewhouse equipment with a capacity between 1000 and 5000 liters/brew, with the possibility of 1 to 8 brew cycles every 24 hours. Assuming 300 brewing days a year, this produces a yearly output of 3000 to 120000 hl.
  • Equipment for cooling and ventilating wort. While cooling wort to the desired temperature for fermentation, the system prepares hot water for use in future brewing processes, providing for energy savings.
  • Fermentation tanks with a capacity from 1000 to 21000 liters. The size of the tank is chosen to ensure that, on a typical brewing day, an entire tank can be filled in 24 hours. Additionally, the size of the tanks also an important consideration with regards to the desired number of beer types.

  • Tanks for collecting and storing yeast. These tanks provide for the separate, safe storage and cooling of yeast, until it needs to be used again in the next brewing cycle. The length of yeast storage is monitored and controlled through the automation system.
  • CIP cleaning equipment, which can be either manual, two-tank mobile, or four tank fixed and automatic, depending on the size of the equipment 
  • Kieselguhr filter, in the event filtered beer is to be produced 
  • Serving tanks for the temporary storage of beer after fermentation and before serving, bottling or KEG storage. In these tanks both pressure and temperature are monitored and controlled.
  • Equipment for cleaning and filling KEGs. Depending on needs this equipment can come in manual or automatic format

Nano brewery


ZIP Nano Brew system allows both professional brew masters and recreational home brewers to brew small batches of fresh natural beer.

During the development of ZIP Nano Brew our goal was to create a compact system that would allow for the brewing of beer in small quantities (up to 50 liters per brew) from four traditional ingredients water, malt, hops, and brewer’s yeast. Brewing is more convenient and entertaining with ZIP nano Brew. For professional brew masters, ZIP Nano Brew is a useful tool for developing and perfecting new recipes. And thanks to its user-friendly automatization program, the system also makes the joys of being a brew master more accessible to hobby brewers.

User-friendly automatization


The Zip nano Brew system is operated with the guidance of a microcontrol system, which provides onscreen step-by-step guide through the brewing process. As a result, inexperienced brewers will  nd it easy-to-simple to learn how to brew using this program and experienced brewers will be able to develop new recipes and experiment with raw materials.
With Zip nano Brew, the fermentation process is also fully controllable – both the pressure and the temperature of Uni tanks can be controlled. in fact, these settings are set individually, allowing for di erent temperature storage from tank to tank. the fermenters are controlled locally from a dual-display temperature controller. the new control system gives a brew master more choice on the size of the cold area – the number of tanks con- nected is unlimited.

Our engineers worked not only to create user-friendly technology, but also on the esthetic appearance of the system. the Nano Brew has a relatively small foot print and is completely mobile. it has been designed to be a perfect addition to your kitchen, office, entertainment room, sauna area, etc.

ZIP Nano Brew system is made of polished stainless steel and is composed of materials and spare parts from top european manufacturers. it is a complete system and includes all the technology which is found in large breweries in a small scale, including: the brewing tanks, piping and pumps, fermentation tanks and cooling equipment, and the additional tools and accessories which are necessary for the preparation of raw materials before brewing.

DRY HOPPING

Dry hopping is a technique used in brewing, with some hops added after the wort has been cooled to increase the aroma and flavor of the product.

Some beer styles, like IPAs and pale ales have strong hoppy flavors. Most of the flavor and aroma compounds in the hops are essential oils, but these boil off easily at high temperatures. Using dry hopping allows these essential compounds to remain in the finished product and contribute to the desired flavor and aroma.

Dry hopping is a flavoring technique used by craft brewers, but there aren’t many commercially available, specifically designed dry hoppers on the market. ZIP`s high quality dry hopper focuses on ease of use, minimizing the risk of contamination and oxygenation, while optimizing the contact time and maximizing the extraction rates. Our system can be used almost anywhere in the production process, from the whirpool to the fermentation tanks or even the filling line.

General description
The equipment can be installed before the heat exchanger on the hot wort line. The main purpose of this equipment is to dissolve additional taste and aroma compounds into the wort without adding more bitterness to it. The equipment is designed to maximize the contact area between the leaves and the flowing hot wort, thus improving the effectiveness of the extraction of the aroma compounds. The spent leaves can be easily removed from the equipment through the specifically designed opening and can also be CIP-ed using the existing CIP installations. Because the bittering acid content of the hops remains undissolved these leaves can be used in the next batch of brewing as bittering hops.
This type of equipment is recommended if the goal is to produce a beer with typically hoppy aroma and taste, but not quite the more pronounced and stronger dry hopped ones.

Hops pellets can be used with this equipment and it is designed to maximize the contact area between the hops and the beer. The placement of the inlets allows the beer being pumped into the equipment to mix vigorously, due to the turbulent flow the extraction rate of the aroma compounds is maximized and the extraction time can be reduced. The operation principle of the equipment results in reduced oxygen uptake and the damaging effects involved are minimized. The flow of beer between the fermentation vessel and the dry hopping equipment is achieved with a pump and the use of overpressure. The equipment is easily cleaned and CIP-ed with built-in multiple cleaning heads, the hop slush can be discharged on a designated opening.
This type of equipment is recommended to dry hop or flavor large amounts of beer, as it has large load capacity.
